Somali Ambassador to the UN, H.E Mr. Abukar Dahir Osman, addressed the
pressing issues of the arms embargo and the situation in SSC-Khaatumo during the "Briefing on Somalia" at the UN on October 19, 2023.
He passionately called for the lifting of the long-standing arms embargo
on Somalia, citing the nation's transformation and advancements.
In
Northern Somalia, Ambassador Osman reported a calm situation in
Laascaanood, largely due to the SSC-Khaatumo Administration's tireless
efforts. He welcomed the establishment of the SSC-Khaatumo interim
administration and urged UNSOM and international partners to support
this development in alignment with the Federal Government of Somalia's
policy
Ambassador Abukar Dahir Osman reflected on Somalia's
challenging journey and highlighted the nation's resilience,
determination, and the unwavering spirit of its people. He expressed
optimism that, through collective efforts, Somalia would overcome the
threat posed by Al-Shabaab and move closer to sustainable peace and
prosperity.
