Kismayo (HOL) - Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Kismayo on Wednesday, where Jubbaland leader Ahmed Madobe, along with other officials warmly welcomed the President's delegation.
According to Villa Somalia, the President will be monitoring the situation in the Jubbaland regions, prioritizing the acceleration of the country's second phase of liberation and the plan to flush out Al-Shabaab terrorists from the areas they still control.
President Mohamud will be working on reconciliation meetings among local clans, listening to their recommendations for developing the Somali government and the country, Villa Somalia added.
Local media has reported that the President will likely travel to the Gedo region to meet with rival traditional elders who oppose the Jubbaland administration.
On Wednesday, Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Daud Aweis stated that Somali security forces had killed more than 200 Al-Shabaab fighters, including senior leaders, in a three-day operation in the central and southern parts of the country.
Since President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud declared an all-out war against the militants last year, the government forces have intensified their attacks against Al-Shabaab.
