Somali Cabinet approves new Accountant General and key cooperation agreements with Qatar

    Mogadishu (HOL ) -The Somali cabinet has approved the appointment of the Accountant General of the Federal Government and several cooperation agreements with Qatar on Thursday.

    Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama chaired the weekly meeting in Mogadishu. The Cabinet of Ministers approved the Ministry of Finance's proposal to appoint Abdirahman Mohamed Anas as the Accountant General. The ministry cited Anas's experience in Administration and Finance as a reason for his appointment.

    The Council also approved several other agreements, including a joint administrative cooperation agreement to implement the Somalia and Qatar Customs Tax Law, a proposal to join the Arab Free Trade Area, and a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation on Justice and Constitutional Affairs between Somalia and Qatar.

    During the meeting, the Ministries of Internal Security and Defense briefed the Council on the operations to eliminate al-Shabab groups and stabilize the liberated areas.

    The government emergency committee responsible for evacuating Somali citizens from Sudan briefed the Council on the situation of Somali citizens trapped in Sudan.

    Somalia has started evacuating citizens stranded in Sudan due to ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. On Wednesday, eighteen Somali citizens arrived at Mogadishu's Aden Adde Airport after being evacuated from Buluja, near Sudan's border with South Sudan.
