Kuala Lumpur -  (HOL) - A heartbreaking incident occurred in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, when a nine-year-old Somali boy tragically fell from the fifth floor of a condominium complex in the Setapak neighbourhood, a bustling suburb in the northeastern part of Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia.

The boy, who resided in block B of the condominium complex on Jalan Langkawi with his mother, had just returned from a Quran class in block A. Wangsa Maju district deputy police chief Saralathan Duraisamy explained that the young boy had ventured down to the fifth floor, where a bridge connects the two apartment blocks.

Unable to open the bridge door, which required an access card for entry, the boy is believed to have climbed out of the window in an attempt to cross the bridge, resulting in the fatal fall.

"We received information about the incident and sent police to the scene. Personnel at the scene found the victim on the road near a restaurant in the Block B building," the deputy police chief said in a statement on Wednesday.

"The victim was also bleeding from his ears. He was wearing long pants and a long sleeve shirt and shoes," he said, adding that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The child and his mother are registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and have resided in Malaysia since 2017. This tragic event underscores the vulnerability of refugees in unfamiliar environments and the importance of comprehensive support systems for these communities.
