Egypt strongly condemned a terrorist attack that targeted
the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS') base in Middle
Shabelle province, south west of Mogadishu on Tuesday.
The attack left a number of people, including Burundian
members of the ATMIS, dead and injured.
In a statement released by the Foreign Ministry on
Wednesday, Egypt voiced its sincere condolences to the Burundian government and
people, as well as the victims' families.
The statement stressed Egypt's solidarity with the ATMIS in
face of all forms of violence and terrorism.
Egypt expressed its full support for the ATMIS's efforts to
bring about stability in Somalia, the statement concluded.
