Several people killed in Guriel fighting

GURIEL (HOL) - Heavy fighting between rival government forces has today flared up in Guriel town of Galgaduud region.

Sources in the town confirmed that Gorgor forces and police officers in the town have clashed this morning, prompting hours long fighting.

According to the sources, the fighting started after the police arrested several Gorgor soldiers.

Several people including combatants have reportedly killed in the clashes. The fighting has also effected business as shops and restaurants closed.

Local authorities have not yet commented on the fighting.
