MOGADISHU (HOL) - Somali Government spokesperson Mohamed Moalimuu who arrived last week from bomb attack treatment in Turkey has today been cleared to run for Member of Parliament.
Moalimuu received the certificate of clearance from the Federal Indirect Elections Team (FIET) to contest in the Lower House elections for Hir-Shabelle.
He was among 11 candidates who were unveiled Saturday to run for Member of Parliament representing Hir-Shabelle State.
Moalimuu was a long serving journalist and Secretary General of the National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) before joining Government last year as spokesperson.
He was injured in suicide bomb attack on January 16 and was flown to Turkey where he spent close to 40 days undergoing treatment.
