Mogadishu (HOL) - Puntland security forces seized explosive materials, which were hidden in a truck vehicle in the Galdogob district of the Mudug region on Wednesday.
The vehicle was heading to the Somali regional state in Ethiopia, but security personnel intercepted it before it crossed the border after receiving information, according to security officials.
They added that the materials they seized could be made of about 150 landmines, and the driver was also arrested.
Special police forces in Ethiopia's Somali region have intensified security operations on the border towns since al Shabaab attacked the region from Somalia's Bakool region on July 29.
The al-Qaeda-linked armed group, al Shabaab from Somalia, crossed the border with Ethiopia and engaged in a battle with the special forces of the Somali region.
The president of Ethiopia's Somali region announced last week that Ethiopian forces would establish a buffer zone inside Somalia to prevent further al-Shabab cross-border attacks.
