Garowe (HOL) - Puntland regional state President reshuffled his cabinet on Friday night and sacked several ministers, including Minister of Finance Hassan Shire Abgaal, a close political ally of the President.
Former minister of internal affairs, Mohamed Abdirahman Dhabancad, was appointed as finance minister replaced Hassan Shire Abgaal.
Former Federal Government of Somalia Minister of Internal Affairs Abdi Farah Said Juha has been appointed Minister of Internal Affairs of Puntland.
President Deni fired Puntland's Minister of Justice, Awil Sheikh Hamud, and replaced him with Mohamed Abdiwahab Ahmed.
Minister of Planning Jamal Yusuf Arab, who was in office for six months, was also dismissed, and Mohamed Syed Faroole replaced him. The latter is the cousin of Senator Abdirahman Faroole, former Puntland President.
Jamal Yusuf Arab was removed as Minister of Planning and appointed as Commander of the Puntland Intelligence and Security Agency. Mukhtar Jeyte, the agency's Commander, was recently suspended from work.
President Deni's reshuffle comes less than a year and a half before the Puntland presidential election in January 2024.
