President Mohamud appoints Deputy Chief of Staff

    Mogadishu (HOL) - ‎Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has appointed Mohamed Amin Sheikh Osman as his deputy chief of staff.

    According to state media, Osman is a dual-degree holder in economic development and conflict resolution.

    He was previously a senator in Somalia's Upper House and the Chairman of the Senate Defense Committee. He also served as the Deputy Head of Mission at Somalia's embassy in Kenya.

    Osman will replace Abdinur Mohamed Ahmed, who served as Farmajo's deputy chief of staff.

    Osman's appointment is President Mohamud's second since officially taking the reins of the presidency on Monday.

    Mohamud's first hire was Hussein Sheikh Mohamud, who he tapped as his new Chief of Staff.
