Al Shabaab takes over Elbur Hospital to treat militants injured in Bohol attack

    Dhusamareeb (HOL) - Al Shabaab militant group forcibly took over the administration of Elbur District Hospital to treat its militants injured in Friday's foiled attack in Bohol town.

    Residents who declined to be named said the group brought the bodies of 37 al Shabaab terrorists killed in the Bohol attack to the district. 

    Al Shabaab fighters reportedly removed patients from the hospital, and the group ordered residents not to approach the hospital. 

    The number of injured militants admitted to Elbur hospital in the Galgadud district is unknown. 

    Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud complimented the people of Bahdo town in the Galgadud region for their selfless defence against Al-Shabaab militants who attacked the city on Friday morning.

    He added that the militants who attacked the town suffered heavy casualties but did not specify the number of deaths.

    However, the militant insurgent group admitted that nine of its fighters were killed in the attack and claimed it killed 27 Somali soldiers during the fierce ore-dawn battle.

    A local official said that armed residents and local security forces in Somalia's Galmudug state killed 70 Al Shabaab fighters as they repulsed a militant raid.
