Somali President meets foreign ambassadors and diplomats

    Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with foreign ambassadors and diplomats at Vill Somalia in Mogadishu on Wednesday, where they discussed topics including the ongoing emergency response to the drought and the role of international partners in helping the suffering Somali people.

    The President briefed the representatives on the humanitarian situation in the country as a result of the drought. During the meeting, he noted the government's efforts and mobilization to handle the problem.

    The diplomats commended the President's efforts at reconciliation and drought relief. They also welcomed the recent National Consultative Council meeting in Mogadishu, which was attended by the country's five regional state leaders, the Prime Minister, and the mayor of Mogadishu. They underlined that the communiqué from the meeting was essential for state-building and development.

    Representatives from the international community pledged to step up their support for Somalia's government, notably in security, humanitarian challenges, reconciliation, and institution development.
