Faisal Warabe calls on Muse Bihi to step down as Somaliland president

    Hargeisa (HOL) - Somaliland's opposition party UCID has accused Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi of planning not to hold elections and called on him to resign.

    ‎UCID Party Chairman Faysal Ali Warabe spoke to the media on Sunday and accused the president of deciding to stay in the seat illegally after his term ends. ‎

    ‎"It is clear that Muse Bihi is determined not to leave the presidency and plans to stay on as long as he wishes. I am telling you, the people of Somaliland, that Muse is pursuing his personal interest, not the national interest. He is ready to destabilize the country return 1994."

    ‎The Chairman called on Somaliland business people and intellectuals to speak with the president and offer sound wisdom. He added that if the people around the president didn't talk sense into him, there might not be the Somaliland Republic as it exists. 

    Faysal Warabe went on to say that Muse Bihi was a threat to Somaliland's nascent democracy. ‎

    ‎"Muse has ended the democracy of one person and one vote. He believes that there is no law or constitution.

    Warabe called on President Muse Bihi to step down and an interim president to be sworn in who would bring Somaliland to a national election.
