Government forces killed five al Shabaab militants in Jubbaland

    Kismayo (HOL) - Somalia's special commandos Danab killed five al Shabaab militants in a security operation at Labakuus village in the Lower Jubba region on Sunday.

    The Special Forces attacked a checkpoint where the militants collected money from the people and commercial vehicles on the road.

    The leader of the group in charge of the finance in Labakus village was among those killed in the attack, while Danab forces captured another member of Al-Shabaab.

    During the operation, the forces seized weapons, including four AK47 rifles, one BKM rifle, and dozens of other weapons.

    Danab officials said they would intensify the operations against the al Shabaab in the country.

    Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud announced that his government would start an offensive war against Al-Shabaab to liberate them from the country last month.
