Jubbaland to investigate reports of civilian casualties during security operation

Kismayo (HOL) - Jubbaland regional state Vice President Mohamud Sayid Aden said Jubbaland would launch an investigation about reports of civilian casualties during a security operation conducted by the U.S.-trained elite Somali forces known Danab in Quddus village, about 65 km west of Kismayo.

According to residents and elders in Lower Jubba, an unidentified number of civilians were killed and wounded in the security operation, added that the troops also burned the village and destroyed public property.

The Jubbaland vice president and members of the Jubbaland Parliament who held a meeting in Kismayo agreed to conduct an in-depth investigation into the matter and issue a fact-finding report on the incident.
