BELEDWEYNE (HOL) - Hir-Shabelle President Ali Gudlawe is expected to arrive in Beletweyne this morning in his maiden trip to the Central Somalia Town since he came into office in November 2020 amid ongoing feud with clans in Hiiraan region.
Sources said security forces have been deployed in the town ahead of Gudlawe's visit which comes as tensions remain high.
Meanwhile, Hiiraan Revolutionary Council co-founder General Abukar Huud who is currently in Mogadishu has warned Gudlawe against visiting Beletweyne noting he will be responsible for any outbreak of conflict.
Talks between Gen. Hud and President Mohamed Farmaajo have reportedly yielded no fruit according to sources.
Gudlawe's visit comes barely two days after a meeting with an interministerial committee appointed by Prime Minister Mohamed Roble to reconcile the warring factions in Hir-Shabelle.
The committee led by Interior Minister Mukhtar Afrah who also hails from Hiiraan region travelled to Jowhar last week where they met several leaders there.
Meanwhile, HRC forces led by Col. Nur Dheere are reportedly massed up in the outskirts Beletweyne Town amidst fears of a possible clash with government forces.
