Mogadishu (HOL) - The North American Qur'anic Competition came to an end on Friday in Minnesota, and the top contestants received awards.

Fartun Abdulqadir Wako, who won the Imam Al-Shatibi Koran competition, was awarded a cash prize worth $56,000, a 2022 Toyota Highlander Platinum and a scholarship to the Islamic University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia.Adeeb Bari from Texas placed second during the recitation competition. He received a Toyota Highlander Platinum, a cash prize worth $10,000 and a full scholarship to the Islamic University of Madina.
The third winner, Ahmed Bashir Adan of Tennessee, received a full scholarship to the Islamic University of Madinah and $15,000 in cash.
This year, businessman Abdirahman Isse Kahin participated in the awarding ceremony of the Koran competition and handed out the distinguished prizes to the competition's top three contestants.
The tournament, now in its eighth year, was created to highlight the value of the Holy Qur'an and the need for education among Somalis residing in the diaspora.
