Somali President: We want this country to have a free market

    Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with business leaders at Villa Somalia on Sunday night, where they discussed regional business cooperation and the development of investment in the country.

    Mohamud complimented the business sector's resilience while facing challenging economic circumstances, highlighting the Somali people's business acumen and innovations. He urged them to continue playing a more vital role in boosting the country's investment and production.

    "My government will work to make it easier for the business community to do business and make investments. We want this country to have a free market and an open economy. The opportunities in this country are few in any other country in the world", he added.

    Somali business community members will attend the Uganda-Somalia Trade and Investment summit in Kampala from 9th-10th August 2022, which aims to increase trade between the two countries.

    The two countries’ business leaders will analyze opportunities for investment, trade and production.
