Kismayo (HOL) - Kenyan warplanes bombarded areas under Elwak district last night, according to local residents.
The planes have reportedly bombed Warbele, Buralaha, Golgola Ali and Sanaroole areas.
Residents in Elwaq told the media that they heard heavy artillery shelling in the area in the middle of the night.
The number of casualties has not yet been confirmed.
There is no word yet from the administration of Elwaq district regarding the Kenyan airstrikes in the Gedo region in southern Somalia.
The bombing comes a day after an explosion in Elwaq targeting Kenyan forces killed three soldiers. One Kenyan soldier was killed, and six others were injured in the blast, according to al-Shabab.
