MOGADISHU (HOL) - Prime Minister Mohamed Roble held talks with Federal Member State leaders Wednesday night amid fears of cracks in the National Consultative Council in the wake of a simmering row between him and president Mohamed Farmaajo. The Office of the Prime Minister said the meeting conducted via video conference discussed progress in the ongoing elections and preparations for the Lower House elections.
Federal Indirect Elections Team (FIET) chairman Mohamed Irro also briefed the meeting on preparations for the Lower House elections set to kick off late this month.
The process involves the selection of 27,775 delegates from the sub-clans who will then elect the 275 MPs.
The meeting Wednesday happened barely a week after the FMS leaders cancelled a meeting that was set to take place in Garowe, Puntland.
PM Roble had been locked out raising fears the NCC which has been meeting regularly was rocked by the feuds between Roble and Farmaajo.
However, Galmudug state president Ahmed Qoorqoor demanded the PM must be included in the talks leading to its cancellation.
