His two brothers, Ibrahim Ahmed, 20 and Yusuf Ahmed, 17, have been arrested by detectives within the vast North-Eastern region.

They are accused of burning their brother because he was lined up as a witness that one of them had stolen a mobile phone.

Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti said that the minor, a pupil at Kamor Primary School, was pronounced dead on Wednesday morning.

“The 14-year-old-boy had put up a brave fight for his life, but this morning he gave up and went to be with the Lord,” Kinoti said in a statement.

As two of his two brothers were being processed at the Mandera Police Station, their father, Abdullah Hassan, was there to record statements.

Police say that he kept on weeping and appeared in anguish as he recorded a statement at the station.

“But for the two, they are with the police and are being processed for the offence of murder contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the penal code,” Kinoti further said.

The two brothers went into hiding immediately after committing the heinous act leaving their brother for dead.

The minor was saved by locals and police officers who noticed the house on fire and rushed to Mandera Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Immediately after the rescue mission, a manhunt was launched for the two suspects who went into hiding.

A local Yusuf Hassan said that the brothers had been doing good, and he did not believe that such a thing could happen.

“This is absurd, such an incident is horrible, and we as locals condemn it,” Hassan said.
