MOGADISHU (HOL) - Hormuud Salaam Foundation which brings together Somalia’s largest telco, Hormuud Telecom and Salaam Bank has announced a donation of $200,000 to help hundreds of people who were evicted from Las Anod.The foundation said the funds which will be availed ‘immediately’ will cater for the needs of the evictees most of whom were temporarily resettled by the Puntland government in Galkaayo.
Hormuud Telecom chairman Ahmed Mohamud Yusuf said the two companies are working jointly to ensure the funds reach the affected families.
Somaliland government pushed out about 700 people from Las Anod on October 3 accusing them of cases of insecurity in the area.
However, the move has been roundly criticised amid calls on the Muse Bihi administration to halt the evictions.
