Order release of Abdiwahab, former Deputy speaker Maalim urges President Kenyatta

Saturday September 18, 2021

NAIROBI (HOL) - Former Deputy speaker in Kenyan parliament Farah Maalim has pleaded with President Uhuru Kenyatta to 'order the release' of political analyst Abdiwahab Abdisamad.

Maalim, an MP for Lagdare constituency, also claimed that Kenyan Security forces had kidnaped Abdiwahab.

"It's nine days since Security Officers picked up Dr. Abdiwahab from Nairobi CBD," Maalim said in a tweet. "President Uhuru, you are a father, a husband and son of an elderly parent. Dr. Abdiwahab's sick, elderly father, wives & children are crying for him. The buck stops with you. Please order his release."

Maalim's remarks add to similar allegations by senior Somali politicians in Kenya who have linked Kenyan security forces with the kidnap of Abdiwahab slightly over a week now.

The outspoken political analyst who was a fierce critic of Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Roble and western missions in Somalia was kidnapped in Nairobi's Central business district slightly over a week now.

Abdiwahab's family has since pointed fingers at PM Roble for the kidnap of the political analyst.

The Directorate Of Criminal Investigation (DCI) pledged Investigations into the kidnap, but there has been no word yet on the matter.
