BELEDWEYNE (HOL) - The mayor of Ferfer Township, which borders Ethiopia in Beledwyene District, was killed in a bomb explosion at a police station on Saturday.
Khalif Garad Roble, the mayor of the newly created Ferfer township, was killed by the blast.
Sources said a bomb went off at a restaurant inside a police station in Beledweyne, causing death and destruction in its wake.
Also among the dead include the restaurant owner and other people around at the time of the attack.
The exact number of deaths and injuries is still unclear.
There was no immediate comment from the authorities or claim of responsibility by perpetrators.
