MOGADISHU (HOL) - Suspected Al-Shabaab militants clashed with security forces in Baidoa town Saturday night amid reports of casualties on both sides.
Sources said the militants hurled a hand grenade at the Wadada Soddonka checkpoint and attacked the soldiers manning the checkpoint leading to a heavy exchange of gunfire.
There was no immediate confirmation on casualties, but sources said they saw bodies on the checkpoint, which is located in the centre of the town.
Authorities in Baidoa have not publicly commented on the incident.
