KISMAYO (HOL) - Jubbaland vice president Mohamed Sayid Adan has condemned remarks by the district commissioner of Luuq district Ali Kadiye terming them irresponsible amid public uproar.
"I apologize to the Somali people for the irresponsible remarks made by individuals from NISA," said Adan. His statement terming Kadiye as a NISA official lends credence to alleged reports that the district commissioner also doubles as an intelligence agent.
The VP's remarks follow public uproar after a video emerged online in which Kadiye was condemning Qali Mohamud, the mother of the deceased female intelligence agent Ikran Tahil Farah.
In the video, Kadiye shockingly said that Qali 's tongue "should be cut off" following her demands of justice for her daughter.
The district commissioner's remarks sparked anger among Somalis online, most of whom slammed Kadiye's comments.
The quest for justice for the Farah family has been marred by controversy and infighting within the Federal Government.
While Prime Minister Mohamed Roble has demanded a court process, President Mohamed Farmaajo has, on the other hand, pushed for an out-of-court settlement.
PM Roble instructed the military prosecutor to investigated the matter and brought it to court for prosecution.
The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) announced in August that Ikran had been kidnapped and subsequently killed by Al-Shabaab.
The militant group has, however, rejected the accusations.
