MOGADISHU (HOL) - Prime Minister Mohamed Roble Monday night held talks with Federal Member State presidents amid concerns by the opposition on malpractices in the ongoing Lower House elections.A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister noted that the PM Prime Minister urged the FMS leader to ensure that the elections are transparent and conveyed the concerns and grievances earlier raised by the Council of Presidential Candidates (CPC).
The statement also noted that the presidents of Puntland, Jubaland and Hirshabelle committed to starting elections in their respective territories soon.
The 15 member CPC held talks with the PM on Sunday and demanded that measures be taken to guard the process against influence from various stakeholders.
The CPC in previous statements in the week said they would not recognize the outcome of the elections and demanded it is halted for a review.
Several allies of President Mohamed Farmaajo have since been elected as MPs raising concerns about the influence of the process by Villa Somalia.
