Mogadishu (HOL) As complaints have been mounting in recent days about the conduct of the House of Representatives elections, the Dispute Resolution Committee has called for the candidates to raise their concerns with the committee.

Deputy Chairman of the Dispute Resolution Committee Mohamed Ibrahim Barre told state media that any formal complaint filed by a candidate would be followed up on and warned that the grievances of the candidates or anyone else should not be forwarded on social media.

"We urge every candidate to send their grievances directly to us and not to social media," said Mohamed Ibrahim Barre.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) statement comes at a time when there are many complaints from candidates who say that the current electoral process is deeply flawed compared to other indirect elections.

On Friday, the international community called on Somalia's leaders to deliver a credible electoral process.

The Heritage Institute for Policy Studies (HIPS) warned that a stolen election would significantly undermine the democratic gains made in recent years and lead to political instability and violence.
