Kenya was scheduled to present its case to the court on Thursday between 3 PM and 6 PM and on Friday from 3 PM to 4:30 PM, but it notified the court that it would not participate in the hearings. The presiding judge in the case, Joan Donoghue, refused Kenya's request to address the court for 30-minutes at the start of the hearings.

The ICJ-  sometimes referred to as the World Court - is the United Nations' judicial arm. The court hears disputes between nations in accordance with international law. The court is a panel of 15 judges elected to a nine-year term by the UN General Assembly and the Security Council. The court has heard 178 cases since its inception in 1945.
