Garowe (HOL) - The President of Puntland, Said Abdullahi Deni, held a consultative meeting with his Cabinet on Thursday.
He briefed them on his month-long visit to Mogadishu and discussed the ongoing political situation in Somalia.
Somalia's President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo signed the legislation despite it being outright rejected by Somalia's Upper House.
Despite international condemnation, Farmajo and the federal government have dug in their heels and dismissed those concerns. In a statement released on Wednesday through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Somali government called the comments inflammatory threats that would embolden Al-Shabaab.
Deni returned to Garowe on Tuesday after talks with the federal government collapsed. He was in Somalia's capital for over a month.
Puntland has previously stated that if no agreement is reached on the electoral process, the Puntland Constitution will provide powers that allow them to decide their destiny.
