COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose visited Polaris Fashion Place Friday to highlight a women-owned business.

Secretary LaRose chose Fay Fayrus Adbi's Fay's Crepes to highlight because of her unique story.

Adbi, an immigrant herself, first opened a small coffee shop in a Somali mini-mall that served coffee, cold drinks, traditional pastries, and crepes.

She eventually expanded to her business to Polaris's food court.

Adbi is Somali but grew up in Sweden — so her food reflects both cultures.

The secretary of state says this is the best of entrepreneurship.

“One of the reasons why we do these business spotlights every month is to shine a light on these courageous business owners that are making it happen and hopefully there are others out there that have an idea and they see fay’s example and saying I can do it too.”

LaRose was asked about whether he too might throw his hat in the ring for Rob Portman’s U.S. Senate seat.

He hadn't made up his mind but said he will have a decision one way or the other by late spring.
