Yemen announces first case of coronavirus in Sana’a, a Somali immigrant

 Yemen's Minister of Public Health, Dr. Taha Al-Mutawakil, announced on Tuesday, first confirmed case of a Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the capital Sana'a, in which a Somali immigrant found dead in a hotle.

The Minister of Health said at a press conference in the capital, Sana'a: We received a report about a case in a hotel in the capital last Sunday, and epidemiological investigation teams moved immediately to the hotel where that person died.

He explained that a sample was taken from the Somali deceased for laboratory tests and the result showed that he was infected with the coronavirus, indicating that the deceased was suffering from chronic diseases including kidney failure and chronic hepatitis.

Al-Mutawakil indicated that the investigation teams quarantined the body. The teams carried out sterilization and disinfection procedures in the hotel and directed those who had any contact with the case infected to be quarantined.

The Minister of Health called on all citizens to abide by the necessary measures to prevent infection with the disease and reduce social contact and presence in public markets and malls.
