Waddani party leader Abdirahman Irro tests positive for COVID19

Hargeisa, Somaliland (HOL) - Somaliland opposition party leader Abdirahman Irro has tested positive for the COVID19 disease adding to an increasing number of senior political leaders who have contracted the disease in Somalia.

The Waddani party leader confirmed in his Facebook page that he had been infected. The politician is currently in Finland where he had been based in before plunging into politics in Somaliland.

Irro now joins an increasing list of leaders who have contracted COVID19 with some succumbing to the pandemic.

Two former prime ministers- Nur Hassan Hussein and Ali Khalif Galayd died of COVID19 in April and October respectively. HirShabelle State Minister for Justice Khalif Mumin Tohow also succumbed to COVID19 in April.

According to the last update from the Federal Ministry of Health October 11, COVID19 cases in the country stand at 3,864 while fatalities are 99.
