NAIROBI (HOL) - Three Kenyan soldiers were Tuesday injured in a clash with the militant group Al-Shabaab in the country’s Mandera county.
Sources in the town said the soldiers were injured after the militants raided a police post in the county resulting in exchange of fire which last for about an hour. There was no immediate comment from authorities but Al-Shabaab claimed in its affiliate website it conducted the attack adding that it damaged the police post. Al-Shabaab is known to exaggerate information about its operations.
The militants have inflicted casualties on security forces and civilians in the north eastern region laying ambushes on police and public service vehicles.
The attack came as Kenya marked its Heroes Day celebrations led by President Uhuru Kenyatta in the western part of the country.
