Eciting times for one of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia’s past cover stars.

American-Somali model Halima Aden has teamed up with Allure magazine and fashion startup Anywear to help create face masks with matching hijabs for their #BandingTogether project. The limited-edition sets are available to the public and for every set sold one will be donated to a healthcare worker.

Halima took to Instagram last week to share her excitement about the project and more information on how individuals can support healthcare workers by purchasing the limited-edition face masks.

According to Anywear’s Instagram account the headbands, hats, bandanas and face coverings all have buttons affixed to them to hold a mask in order to relieve the ears of pressure during long shifts. They can also be used for regular use and self care.

Halima has also been joined by celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan and makeup artist Daniel Martin, who each designed their own hijab-face mask set.

In an official statement on the company’s website, Halima said “Having worked in a hospital, even several months into my modelling career, it was important for me to support this project. As many hijab-wearing women are working at healthcare facilities, I wanted to make sure they have a comfortable option for wearing a mask while keeping their hair covered.”
