MOGADISHU (HOL) - he Federal Government has dismissed claims that the electoral talks slated for Dhusamareb this week have been postponed noting the meeting bringing together national and state leaders is on course.
Constitutional Affairs Minister Salah Jamah confirmed the meeting will take place on Saturday as planned.
The minister was reacting to media reports that the meeting had been delayed owing to disagreements between the Federal Government and Federal Member States.
The Minister however affirmed claims Puntland and Jubbaland had skipped the Technical Committee talks but said engagements were underway to convince them to attend.He said South West and Galmudug leaders were engaging their counterparts to let them join the talks.
During the Dhusamareb round in late July, the leadership of the two levels of government agreed to form a technical committee comprised of two members from each FMS and FGS to work on tentative electoral options which will form the core of the August 15 talks in the central Somalia town.
