Thani Bin Abdullah Al Thani Fund signs $27m humanitarian support pacts

The Thani Bin Abdullah Bin Thani Al Thani Humanitarian Fund has signed four memorandums of understanding (MOUs) and three emergency humanitarian support agreements with four largest international humanitarian organisations, on Friday for nearly three million beneficiaries.

The four international humanitarian organisations are CARE International, Action Against Hunger, OXFAM and Save the Children Organisation.

The financial support provided by Thani Bin Abdullah Bin Thani Al Thani Humanitarian Fund, which is more than  $27m, will be used to provide humanitarian and relief assistance in the provision of food, water, medicine, shelter and health services in several African countries including Somalia and Congo.

Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani represented the Fund at the signing ceremony attended by senior officials of these international organizations in London.

The organisations represented by Frances Longley, Executive Director of Care International; Caroline Thomson, Chair of OXFAM; Dr. Kevin Watkins, CEO of Save the Children Organization and Timothy Wright from Action Against Hunger.

Save the Children Organisation will receive $18,775,032 to deliver food, water, health and shelter projects to more than 2.5 million beneficiaries, while Action Against Hunger has been supported with $7,031,600 to provide food to 500,000 beneficiaries in Somalia, Tanzania and Kenya.

Meanwhile, OXFAM was supported by $1,215,381 to provide water to 150,000 beneficiaries in the Republic of Congo.
