At least 15 people were killed and more than a dozen seriously injured on Thursday when a car loaded with explosives near a restaurant in Mogadishu.

The Ministry for Information condemned the barbaric attack on Filsan Restaurant.

The country’s assistant information minister, Adan Isack Ali said the government will implement new measures to improve security.

“The government is working on plans to beef up the security of the capital city and we call upon the public to work with the security agencies by tipping off suspected issues,” the minister said.

The al-Shabaab militant group has claimed the responsibility of the attack.

The latest attack comes on the heel of security shake-up carried out by the government to resolve the security lapse.
