Somali government promises to avenge terror attacks

Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has vowed revenge against Al-Shabaab on Friday after a car bomb hit the premises of Ministry of Labour followed by gunfire.

The attack claimed the lives of over 15 people and more than ten others, including a deputy minister.

The security forces fought against the militants for close to an hour before neutralizing the threat and gaining accesses to the government building.

In a statement, President Farmajo said his government in collaboration with the public would retaliate Al-Shabaab's deadly attack on Saturday.

"We call on the public and the forces to unite against the terrorists whom day after day plan to shade the blood of Somali public, destroy their wealth," President Farmajo said.

In a separate statement, Prime minister, Hassan Ali Kheire has condoled with the bereaved families of the victims killed in Al-Shabaab's Saturday attack.

According to Somali Army Chief, Dahir Adan Elmo, the prime minister met with the envoys of the International community in Mogadishu.

The meeting which was attended by Somali security officials, AMISOM commanders and representatives from the UK, US and EU focused on strategies on countering Al-Shabaab threats.
