Seven people have been arrested following a plastic bags crackdown in Eastleigh Garissa in Nairobi.

National Environment Management Authority NEMA together with Nairobi county government officer invaded the area causing a stir.Other traders escaped the trap but their plastic paper bags were confiscated by the NEMA officers.
Assistant director environment Nairobi City County Mwangi Mukuru says the arrested traders will be arraigned in court on Monday.
‘‘They shall remain in the police cells until Monday when they will be taken to court…we have enough evidence to support our case and i think it shall serve as a warning to those who continue using plastic paper bags in their businesses.’’ He stated.
Areas marked as hot spots include light Industries in Kariobangi ,Eastleigh and Industrial Area.
The plastic bags ban was effected in 2017.
