Ethiopia, Djibouti to Boost Economic Partnerships

Governments of Ethiopia and Djibouti will work to increase their economic ties and cultural exchanges, according to a statement from the Prime Minister''s Office released Saturday in Addis Ababa.

According to the press release, the Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed and Djiboutian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mahmoud Ali Youssouf agreed, stressing during a meeting on Friday the need to increase communication between nations.

Both also discussed the situation in Sudan, regional peace and the actions of the Intergovernmental Authority for the Development of East Africa, with a view to achieving stability in that country and also in Southern Sudan.

Youssouf also expressed a message of condolence from President Ismail Omar Guelleh to the Ethiopian leader on the recent death of his father.

To celebrate the strengthening of bilateral relations, the statement concluded, Ahmed and Youssouf planted trees at the headquarters of the Prime Minister's office.
