The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN) is asking for the public's help in locating an Ohio nursing student who went missing while eating dinner at a restaurant in Minneapolis with her family.
The group says Abiir Moalim, a 21-year-old nursing student at Columbus State Community College in Ohio, was last seen around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30 eating a meal with her mother and grandfather at Quruxlow at 1414 East Lake Street in Minneapolis.
Moalim reportedly went to the restroom and never returned. She didn't have a phone with her and nobody has been able to contact her since.
Moalim, described as a Muslim of Somali heritage, was wearing a black jacket, a dark beige head scarf and a long black dress.
Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder tells Bring Me The News that foul play is not suspected and it appears that "she left the restaurant by herself."
CAIR-MN is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone with information about what happened, and anyone who might be able to help is asked to contact Minneapolis police at 612-673-5703.
CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization.
