MOGADISHU (HOL) - Uganda’s national air carrier, Uganda Airlines made its maiden landing in Aden Adde Airport in Mogadishu close to two decades since it closed shop becoming a new addition to Mogadishu in an increasing entry of regional airlines.
The aircraft which departed Entebbe International Airport according to the airline’s twitter feed landed in Mogadishu Thursday morning.
The airline which relaunched recently after an 18 year hiatus becomes the latest entrant to Mogadishu route which has attracted airlines in the region as Mogadishu fast becomes a favourite destination for airlines connecting the region.
Ethiopian Airlines started its direct flights to Mogadishu last October and followed few months later by Kenya Airways.
Turkish Airlines pioneered the Mogadishu route more than four years ago becoming the first international airline to fly to Mogadishu at a time airlines rerouted their flights to other destinations for security concerns.
