Uganda 4-1 Somalia: Patrick Kaddu scores hat-trick as Cranes dispatch Ocean Stars

Saturday August 3, 2019

Uganda have progressed to the final round of African Nations Championship (Chan) qualifiers after overpowering Somalia 4-1 at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo.

The Cranes are the winners of the two-legged qualifier with an aggregate score of 7-2 following a 3-1 win in the first leg.

Patrick Kaddu scored three goals while Allan Kyambadde produced the other one for Uganda. Daud Abdullah Tabul scored Somali's solitary goal.

Kaddu gave Uganda the lead in the fourth minute as he successfully converted a penalty.

While dominating ball possession the Cranes had to wait until the 37th minute to double their lead against the Somalia team, which took time to grow into the game.

Allan Kyambadde scored the second goal after a beautiful combination between him and KCCA attacking midfielder Allan Okello.

Kaddu grabbed his brace just a minute before the half-time break to stretch the scoreline to 3-0. The KCCA forward was not to stop there as he earned his hat-trick in the 48th minute through a beautifully-taken header.

Tabul scored Ocean Stars' solitary goal in the 87th minute as their qualification journey came to an early end.

Uganda will now face the winner between South Sudan and Burundi in the final round of qualification for Chan.

South Sudan will play host to the Swallows on August 4 for the return leg. Burundi won the initial match  2-0.
