"A suicide bomber forced his way into a checkpoint (manned by Somali forces), a security soldier tried to stop the car but the suicide bomber detonated the bomb, killing himself (suicide bomber) and injuring the soldier," said Hildhiban.
Mogadishu (HOL) - At least one person has been killed and another injured when a car bomb exploded in the outskirts of Somali Capital, Mogadishu, an official confirmed Sunday.
Abdi-Aziz Hildhiban, the spokesman of the Internal Security Ministry told Hiiraan Online that the government forces at Siinka Dheer checkpoint foiled the attack.
The attack comes on the heel of Somali military court ruling on three militant bomb experts.
Mohamed Abdirahman Mohamud, Ahmed Adan Weerar and Mohamed Ali Abdi were found of guilty and were sentenced to jail terms ranging from 10 years to life imprisonment
Three days ago, a car packed Improved Explosive Devices was detonated near Wehliye Hotel.
The blast killed over 17 people mostly civilians and more than twenty others.
Al-Shabaab militant group claimed the responsibility for the attack.
