TORONTO (HOL) - HILAAC FC of Toronto were winners of the 2018 Annual SomaliWeek Soccer Tournament held at Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto after beating BANAADIR FC of Toronto to 4-0
The annual summer tournament held in Toronto hosts teams from across the world. This year, more than 12 teams from Canada, USA and UK; including DIXON FC, SEIF , OTTAWA , HILAAC , BANAADIR , MN TWINS, MUQDISHO , GALA CANADA, HALGAN, HAMILTON, AFRO-CANADA, IFTIN & MIDNIMO.
2018 Somali Week Cup honors the memory of Farah Weheliye Addow Sindiko, Vice-President of Africa Football Federation.
The tournament is hosted by the Toronto Development Association of Youth (TODAY) and held at Centennial Park Stadium in Etobicoke, Toronto.
Toronto Mayor who officially opened the final game of the tournament usually invites former Somali soccer legends from the past as well as honourary guests from the community for the closing ceremonies and trophy handout.
Somali Week’ was first held in Toronto back in the early 90’s by a group of Somali sportsmen who fled the civil war.
