A team of Qatari cyclists has had a successful run during its fourth consecutive participation in the Global Biking Initiative (GBI) Europe initiative, which kicked off in Sweden last week and covered a distance of 750km - passing through Denmark and ending in Hamburg, Germany.
The seven-day event witnessed the participation of more than 600 cyclists representing 35 countries to raise funds for charity, according to a statement by the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
The Qatari team included 38 cyclists from Qatar Cycling Centre, including HE Hassan bin Ghanim al-Muhannadi, former minister of justice, and officials from the centre.
Through their participation, Qatari youth aimed to raise funds to build a QR230,000 school and a QR210,000 hospital to support the return and reintegration of Somali refugees and displaced persons through providing housing, health and education.
