Mogadishu (HOL) - Three Al-Shabaab Islamist militants in Buloburde town last night after the militants raided AMISOM base, a district official said Wednesday.
The militants launched three simultaneous attacks in Lower Shabelle and Hiraan regions on Tuesday night.
AMISOM troops in Buloburde town reportedly defeated the group's fighters who attacked the base from different directions after engaging brief gun battle with them.
Buloburde district commissioner, Abdi Dahir Gure said Djibouti soldiers under the framework of AMISOM killed three Al-Shabaab fighters after the militants attacked AMISOM's Djibouti contingent military base in Buloburde town.
The troops conducted security operations in and outside the town to apprehend the perpetrators.
The militants also fired motor shells on two AMISOM bases in Lower Shabelle region.
Al-Shabaab still controls a large swath land in the south and of central Somalia.
