Mogadishu (HOL) - Unidentified armed bandits on Friday night shot to death a Somali trader in Johannesburg.

The trader who was identified as Liban Ali was killed in a shop by the gunmen before they made away with cash.

The killing of the trader comes just a day after another was killed in the same area.

No arrest was made so far by South Africa Police.

Since early this month, at least seven Somali traders were killed in South Africa, according to Abdinasir Mohamed, a member of Somali community committee.

Mohamed expressed concern over the increasing attacks against the killing of Somali traders.

He called upon South African authorities to take legal action against these armed thugs.

Last week, Amnesty International accused the South African government of lacking the political will to take on xenophobic attacks.

“There is a lack of political will on the part of the government to deal with issues of violence and xenophobia in a sustainable way, and the consequence of this inertia has resulted in continuing sporadic bursts of violence which often end in deaths, injuries and damage to property,” said Shenilla Mohamed, Executive Director of Amnesty International South Africa.
