Mogadishu (HOL) - Two people were reported killed and another one
injured following a grenade attack on former Howl-wadag district
commissioner's house in Mogadishu on Friday night.
The grenade blast reportedly occurred inside the house followed by reports of gunfire.
The spokesman of Somali security ministry, Abdiasis Hildhiban said the grenade was hurled into the house of Mohamed Abukar Jafar, killing a child and his grandmother.
Hildhiban noted that the security forces reached the area and launched an investigation into the incident.
He urged the public to cooperate with the government and alert police of any strangers in the area.
The attack comes at a time when leaders of federal and regional member states are convened in the city for a national security conference.
Somali government have recently stepped up operations to secure the capital city.
